Return of the King

Lost in the hub bub of “Gundygate” is this story:

Sam Houston State is in Stillwater for tomorrow’s showdown with Oklahoma State. That isn’t the interesting part of the story. SHSU is obviously just a cream puff school the Cowboy scheduled for an easy victory (although, “easy victory” is kind of hard to proclaim when your school gets stomped by the Troy State Trojans). What should be noted is that some of our readers may recognize the starting quarterback for the Bearkats…Rhett Bomar. Continue reading ‘Return of the King’

Bobby Reid’s Mother Is Litigious

This story may have legs yet! It seems Bobby Reid’s mother, Rajika, has looked thoroughly at Gundygate and decided that the aggrieved party is… Rajika Reid! In a case that we can only hope isn’t settled out of court and is played out on CourtTV, Rajika Reid has decided that she is going to sue Jenni Carlson and the Oklahoman.

The first thought I had when I read this was “Wow, she’s going to throw away all the good press OSU has built up over the past five days in an attempt to get a little money out of this!” And the second thought I had was “Wow, this is amazingly good news for TheLostOgle.com.” And then the third thought I had was “Hey, are those onion rings over there? Damn, they look good.”

Personally, I think Jenni forcing herself to listen to Saliva is probably punishment enough, but perhaps a court of law will decide otherwise. What I do know is that if Bobby Reid’s mother somehow wins this lawsuit, I’m hiring a lawyer of my own. Because that time John Rohde made fun of my go-kart driving skills will not go unpunished. He will pay through the nose.

EDIT: I see one of our readers beat me to the punch on this in the comments. Expect a lawsuit.

Jenni Carlson has 35 friends. We are not one of them.

Well, maybe we’re not done with Gundygate. Thanks to a reader tip, we have learned that the now suddenly famous Jenni Carlson has a MySpace page. I would suggest that you show your support to Jenni and send her a friend request, because if you can get over her terrible columns and trite features, she actually seems like pretty a cool girl to hang out with. Just check out her interests:

Tyler Nelson May Soon Go Missing

Meet Edmond’s own Tyler Nelson. Things were going so well for Mr. Nelson. After studying ballet at the Kirov Academy in Washington D.C., he went on to practice professionally in Russia. He then parlayed that success into getting a role in the upcoming Indiana Jones sequel and a part in Brad Pitt’s next film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Then, he pissed off the wrong people. Continue reading ‘Tyler Nelson May Soon Go Missing’

Is it time to shut down Gundygate?

Mike Gundy, Bobby Reid and Jenni Carlson: Do the Right ThingAfter this post, I think we are possibly done with Gundygate. This thing is getting so overblown that we may not even produce the cool T-Shirt idea that we came up with.

How overblown is it?

The YouTube clip that we posted late Saturday night has been viewed nearly 300,000 times and has nearly 1,000 comments. Today alone, we have received over 3,500 visits from people simply googling “Jenni Carlson.”

A big reason why we are getting a such a large influx of Jenni Carlson traffic is because we are one of two websites in the world that actually have a Jenni Carlson category. The reason we have the category is because we write about Jenni and had a premonition that she would eventually be caught in the middle of a big controversy.

That’s why today we are unveiling a Gan Matthews category. Sure, I seriously doubt we’ll ever really write about Gan, but in case he goes nuts and releases an Amy McRee sex tape, we’ll be ready and able to gather all the resulting search engine traffic. We’ll also volunteer to upload the tape on YouTube. You know, because we are nice guys and all.

The Lost Ogle Is The New C-Span

Last week we got an e-mail from a nice guy who had a good suggestion for the site. After we thanked him, he e-mailed back and cryptically let it be known that TheLostOgle.com is pretty popular these days at the State Capitol. I figured that he was being polite, and moved on with my day.

Then, I checked our inbox again, and found a link to this fancy thing Blognetnews.com has put together. Basically, it’s a listing of Oklahoma’s “Most Influential Political Blogs.” And for some reason The Lost Ogle is #10.

Where to begin? The idea that this is a political blog seems to be quite a stretch. Sure, we take the occasional swipe at Jim Inhofe and Tom Coburn, and we enjoy using “Mary Fallin” and “State Trooper” in the same sentence as often as possible, but those are easy targets, fastballs down the middle. We spend most of our time doing things like alerting the world to Lauren Richardson and making fun of Bob Barry, Jr.

This wasn’t started as or intended to be a political blog, so I’m wondering if the problem is BlogNetNews’ program or if there are just so few political blogs there that this really is one of the most influential ones. I’m thinking it’s the former, since Okie Funk isn’t on the list and it is definitely more political and (hopefully) more influential.

In any event, if somehow this blog hasn’t been blocked from capitol computers and for some reason there are people there actually reading this, I might as well take the opportunity to ask them if there is some way they could ban Dean Blevins from the airwaves? Or at least censure him or something? If this could get done, I will continue voting for you. At least until Gary England decides to run.

Thank You, Mike Gundy

So, I checked the old Lost Ogle email this morning. One person sent us this YouTube clip. I’m really not sure if I get the whole thing, but it made me laugh.

Also, somebody let us know that they registered the domain MikeGundyIsMadAtYou.com. Yeah, I’m serious. From there you can harass your friends and send them a Mike Gundy WebCard. You can also click their little ads on the side.

Anyway, I’d like to go ahead and thank Mike Gundy for his tirade on Saturday. You’ve made the Oklahoma internet a better place.

A simple request…

Jenni Carlson

With all the craziness going on regarding Gundygate, there is still one key thing that we are missing: Jenni Carlson’s Reaction.

There had to be 20 cameras in that room. One…just one…had to pan over to get her reaction during his tirade. If you have this clip or picture and are scared to release it because you are friends with Mike Gundy (like most everyone in the Oklahoma City TV media), please send it to us at TheLostOgle at gmail.com. We’ll make sure that the public gets to see it.

Also, I am assuming that Jenni Carlson was the person who Mike Gundy was yelling at during his tirade. Who else could it have been? Here are some options:

Bubble Gum, Mike Gundy’s stylist from Fantastic Sam’s. She had just informed him that his super spike hair gel was out of stock.

Roger, the team’s official KFC runner. He had just dropped Bobby Reid’s postgame chicken leg on the floor.

Sean Sutton, Head Basketball Coach. For grabbing the chicken leg and running out of the room.

Any other ideas? Please let us know.

Oklahoma Initiative Ideas: 100-91

100-ideas.gif

Last January, State Speaker Lance Cargill created some weird thing called the Oklahoma 100 Ideas Initiative. Here’s how it was described:

The 100 Ideas initiative will change the way business is done at the State Capitol. Instead of legislation originating from lobbyists, special interests and government employees, this initiative seeks ideas from the private sector and from citizens across the great state of Oklahoma. Once the initiative is complete, the top 100 ideas will be published in a book and presented to the Oklahoma State Legislature.

Since we are citizens from the “great state of Oklahoma,” we decide to contribute our own 100 ideas for the initiative. But since we’re pretty sure that Speaker Cargill and his friends won’t put any of them in his book, we figured it would be better to share them here over the next few weeks.  After the jump are ideas 100-91.

P.S.- Please note that unlike our Top 100 Oklahoma Embarrassments,  our 100 contributions are not “ranked” in any way.  And if you have any ideas that you would like to see on our list, send us an email. We may include it!

Mike Gundy Is Subtle

I don’t know about you, but when I watch Mike Gundy’s post-game press conference I feel like I can detect that he is a little upset with Jenni Carlson.

What is the deal with OSU football coaches and post-game press conferences? First Les Miles responds to a Bedlam loss by challenging any “sucker” in the country, and now Mike Gundy decides a victory over Texas Tech is the best place to try out his Bobby Knight impression?
