In honor of today’s, first in the nation, primaries in New Hampshire, I bring you this video:
I have to say that I was a bit intimidated last Thursday. After Iowa held its caucus, I was surprised that darkhorse candidate, and former Arkansas governor, Mike Huckabee took home a plurality of the 14 caucusers who came out for the GOP side. Then, Huckabee gave his victory speech and behind him, Oklahoma’s own Chuck Norris stared through the camera with his cold, dark eyes right at me. His eyes said: “Clark, you will change your voter registration and begin campaigning for Mike Huckabee. Pay no attention that his plan to abolish the IRS will cripple the U.S. economy. Do as I say!”
After that sight, I wondered how Huckabee didn’t win unanimously.

Cue A Republican in 3…2…1…
About time you woke up! Now you can go hunting with me!
Anti-supply side economists?
Blastpheeeeemer!
Chuck Norris has a 6 foot long erection and ejaculates easy cheese….
sorry had to do it. Dont put a picture of gary england standing next to chuck norris ever. The sight would bludgeon all men’s psyche permanently.
Wow, this is old news. But I do stand in defiance of Chuck Norris, I will not be voting for Mike Huckabee. I expect a roundhouse kick in the near future.
Do explain though, how exactly does abolishing the IRS=crippling the U.S. economy?
Well, while paying tax on my income isn’t going to stop me from earning money…in fact, it probably encourages making more to make up for giving up money in taxes…I would think twice before going out and buy something I didn’t necessarily need if I had to tack on an extra 23% for federal sales tax. So, all the sudden retailers are getting killed by reduced demand, and the IRS still exists, but now instead of hassling you about whether you itemized more deductions than you were entitled, they are going to be coming after you for not paying an extra $6 for the Adrian Peterson jersey you bought on ebay.
Clark should let the market forces determine his writing habits. This post already has more comments than the last episode of Justice League.
Then again, whose ass among us could Chuck Norris not kick?
I think I was just brainwashed.
resisting…urge…to…change…party…affiliation….
I agree, I’m against a federal consumption tax. I’m against the current federal spending level and would be for replacing the IRS with…nothing. The current size and scope of the federal government is both unconstitutional and (is therefore) illegal.
But what a perfect example as to the heedless growth of government that most liberals advocate and most conservatives fear. Look at the Oklahoman’s newspaper records and you will find that the headline the day the 16th Amendment passed (allowing a federal income tax)in 1913, it was meant to tax the wealthiest among us at a rate of no more than 1%. And what is it now…
Wait, I forgot to address the issue.
So, you’re saying what Huckabee would substitute for the IRS would cripple the U.S. economy? Because I agree with that. But I disagree that simply doing away with the IRS would cripple it, it would make it grow.
Here we go…
First, most Republicans obviously don’t “fear” the heedless growth of government. They have been complicit with the Democrats to increase spending for decades now. They talk a good talk, but they don’t walk thte walk. How else to explain in several years of GOP control of both houses and a GOP Pres. spending records were broken?
That is what disappoints me the most about my GOP.
I said conservatives, not Republicans. I am fully aware that Republicans, running on conservative platforms, have not lived up to their promises.
Secondly, decades? Really? I would say the Republicans of the 90’s were much closer to cutting spending than the Republicans of the 2000 era. Remember, all spending and taxing bills originate in the House, and Republicans did not have control of that from the mid-1950’s to the mid-1990’s.
I’d love to have a great government and not have to pay a penny for it, as well. I’d also like to be able to get in great physical condition without having to exercise. We all have our dreams.
My bad…in that vein then this country has very few true “conservatives”
And yes decades. Even when we had democrat majorities in the house, we have had Republican presidents that have signed, rather than vetoed, bills that were large increases in spending. If the republicans really cared about spending, they could have upheld any vetoes.
Besides, when is the last time the federal budget actually went down?
Can “A Republican” be banned from posting?
Great government is less government, Clark. Those are the ideals of the Founding Fathers. We don’t need a welfare state, we don’t need socialized medicine, we don’t need our guns taken away. I’m better at protecting myself (more often than not) from the potential evils of “big business” than what the government has done. Less government truly is better government. I advocate cutting services as well.
kenparker,
Typical liberal response: “I don’t like what you say. I should remove your right to say it, or should somehow stifle debate on the topic, debate must not be heard.” (i.e. anti-man made global warming crowd labeled as ” equivalent to Holocaust deniers”, anti-illegal immigration crowd being labeled as “racists”)
Robert,
Great point. I think the conservative moniker began being used thanks to Reagan. Ford, Nixon, and Eisenhower’s regulatory policies were near socialistic. Reagan at least slowed the growth of the federal government.
please remember that TheLostOgle.com is not a message board.
Great points by all, especially the message board thing. When you all get your way, I’ll be living in the underground shelter that they built during the “Red Scare” because that’s the only place I’ll be safe while martial law takes over when the skeleton government can’t control the serfs rising up against the feudal lords.
Now, if you want to debate any further, feel free to shoot an email to thelostogle at gmail dot com and address it to Clark.
what he really means, is address your lengthy debate to Patrick (he really loves these kind of discussions)
I like Huckabee, anyone who has dealt with an administration is usually (not always) better qualified to run…
an ADMINISTRATION!!
He’s not gonna win since the GOP is divided. What I like from him is that he goes to liberal talk show and exposes his point not only to “Fox GOP news” and makes a lot of sense to me. Is about the issues not the party.
I also like Richardson, Dodd, and Bidden, obviously I’m not gonna get my wishes.
Hell…
