Yeah…so apparently the “Band of Horses” concert that is being held tomorrow night at Meacham Auditorium is already sold out. What’s that? An indie rock concert in the OKC metro with no radio support is sold out? I haven’t been this surprised since the last time Braum’s got my order right.
Anyway, I guess I’m going to attempt to use the “influence” and “reach” of the Lost Ogle to beg for tickets. Or better yet, see if one of our media or University of Oklahoma “allies” can hook me up with some credentially hall pass things. If you can help, email me at okcpatrick at gmail.com. I’ll maybe even write something nice and sweet about you, or possibly even give you a t-shirt.

First you take down the Speaker of the House in Oklahoma, then you sell out a concert for a band no one has ever heard of…your “reach” and “influence” are pretty impressive.
Shall I talk to my pal President David Boren for you?
who do you know that works at OU?
I just moved back to Oklahoma (by choice, thank you) after 23 years away. Your blog is the best thing to happen to OKC since the arrival of the Gazette decades ago. I was an accidental-journalism major at OSU and interned at KOCO - finding your blog is one damn big trip down memory lane. When I was a kid Gary England was my god and HoHo the Clown my Mother Teresa.
The Gan Matthews - cousin to Carol Webb Martin Young of Dayton, OH?
I have four tickets I’ll sell to you. $100 for the set.
This is all so exciting!
#1 fan that’s bs…weren’t they selling for $15/ea?
assshoooooleeee
Yeah, they are. But I got to make it worth my while.
I wouldnt be surprised if they played a 2nd show. They did this in Bozeman, MT where I saw them in Dec. Bozeman is more or less the same size as Norman.Call the venue and ask if this might happen. They’re a great band to see.
Don’t be slamming Braum’s. Unlike McDonald’s, Braum’s habla Ingles.
Thank god someone wants to work at McDonalds.
Is this fascination with Band of Horses born out of the fact they have a song named Detlef Schrempf?
Actually that’s on my bedtime Ipod playlist…
You should definitely picket the event in an effort to get a song named after Clay Bennett or Mick Cornett. Being that this band is from Seattle and they have an affinity for the Supersonics they may just oblige you.
Based on the two Band of Horses songs I have heard (those linked by Patrick), I don’t think any song they would write about Clay Bennett or Mick Cornett would fit their style very well. It would probably sound a lot like Phish doing a Rage Against the Machine cover.
