dewey-bartlett

Tulsa elected a new mayor last Tuesday.  Republican Oilman Dewey Bartlett, he has to be called an ‘Oilman’ to prevent rich people from rioting in the streets, beat the Democratic Caucasian Tom Adelson and Independent *Hottie Mark Perkins.

Why should Bartlett be the only one with the title?

Nearly 31 percent of registered voters cared to vote.

Unlike Kathy Taylor who did not take her $105,000 annual salary, Bartlett says he will collect his pocket change.  Since he’s only worth the millions he inherited, I would hate for him to suffer during this economic crisis.  Unless you were raised with maids, you wouldn’t understand.  Plus, the city only needs to cut an additional $2 million out of the budget.  What’s another $105,000 in furloughs?

Actually, $105,000 a year could buy, oh, I don’t know, three police officers?  Maybe if oil hits $80 a barrel, he won’t need the money.

I didn’t vote for him, but now that he’s elected, maybe he can add some hotness to the mayor’s office.  Tulsans tend to *vote against attractive candidates.  I’d like to see Kristen Glover on his left arm and Cheri Kimiko on his right.  They don’t have to do anything, simply stand by as a distraction.

I’m glad the election is over. It became nasty.  Bartlett aired a commercial that suggested Adelson was soft on child-molesters.  Adelson aired a commercial that suggested Bartlett has a history of tax trouble.  Perkins called them both poopie-pants and ran out of the room.

(*According to my office staff and gay fan base.)

P.S.  Mr. M won’t be at the Snuggie Pug Crawl, he fell into a well.

they must pay a lot less for police officers in Tulsa. Here, $105,000 would barely cover one officer. Average salary of $75,000, 12% pension, and health care benefits make the cost right at $100,000 for each officer who gets 6 days off in a row two times a month.

The mayor makes that much? Wow.

@BradDOS OKCPD gets 6 days off in a row because they work 8 10 hour days in a row. so they are still working 80 hours in 14 days just like the rest of us. they just do it all in a row. i’d be inclined to do something like that if my work had that policy. and $75k AVERAGE salary? really? i’ll ask my friend who is a sergeant for OKCPD this afternoon about that, because that seems a bit high to me. they should get paid more tho, as a recent audit said they were 300 officers short of what their “demand” says it should be.

as far as this Bartlett guy, that can’t be his real hair.

  4. BradDOS: Starting salary for TPD is about $3,800 a month. Besides, it’s a guess. I suck at math.

I wonder who Biker Fox voted for. Maybe an upcoming Q & A segment is needed staring Biker Fox. Politics, Tulsa Hot Spots, high priced auto supplies on the internet and dress codes excluding spandex at bars and clubs.

Maybe Barlett can have a congratulatory party at Kilkenny’s…that would be pretty cool, I guess.

Wow! Tulsa pays it’s mayor $105,000? Oklahoma City would never do that. We would wait for Ackerman McQueen to pay the mayor $205,000 and then pretend we forgot what “conflict of interest” means. All that aside, I must say that Dewey Bartlett Jr. has me reconsidering my previously held notions of what constitutes a “dork.”

Note to self: Become mayor of Tulsa. Do nothing.

@ Okie Floyd. You are right — they work 4 days a week — and that is why they have the staffing problems. That same report they cite showing understaffing said we had TOO MANY officers if we went to a five day work week. Union Boss Gil Hensley (whose salary as union president, btw,is paid for with tax dollars) has even admitted they have more officers scheduled Tuesday – Thursday than on the weekends because so many people want the weekends off. I don’t begrudge them making a living, but to see that their salaries have gone up 95% since the original MAPS and now have them saying MAPS does not help is disingenuous.

  9. okie floyd says:

@BradDOS first, there are a lot of union people whose salary is paid with tax dollars. pretty much everyone in the teacher’s union gets paid with tax dollars if you think about it. so does every gov’t-based union.

second, i asked my sergeant friend about your $75k a year statement, and he said that he makes $56k (been at it about 10 years). he doesnt know how anyone got the figure of $75k.

third, a 95% raise can’t be right. they haven’t nearly doubled salaries in the past 10 years. no state department has done that. you’re talking about $30k salaries at that point. salaries haven’t been that low in a long, long time.

having an 8 day on, 6 day off schedule is actually pretty beneficial to an organization. employees end up taking less time off due to vacation needs. and the OKCPD guys often work for extra pay on their days off as security for other venues. every cop i know does extra security work.

i was told that they are opposing maps because it had no money for OKCPD, and they were talking about introducing a lot of new areas downtown that would need a lot of policing. i could care less about all of that. i’m not driving up to the city to hang out in some new park with a bunch of hipsters. i’d drive to lake hefner if i wanted to do that. i really don’t care about the issue. i was just giving the info i’d heard.

good news mac, windows 7 is coming out, and it wont have any of the problems my other operating system had. (im trying to say he looks like the pc from the mac pc ads)

  11. Turanacus says:

All 3 candidates have inherited millions and grew up with maids in the house.

  12. rockogre says:

The hair! OMG that haircut. How can you have millions and look like that? Oh, and for some reason the word “dweeb” pops into my mind every time I look at the picture. Is this some kind of side affect from having maids?
