Most cities have sister cities. Tulsa has a few more than OKC, which leads to think Tulsa’s founders might have been sluttier.
If cities were to have sister restaurants, then I may have found Tulsa’s equivalent to Bobo’s Chicken: Chicken Hut, located at 1500 E. Apache.
Like Bobo’s, Chicken Hut’s food is unhealthy and a life-risking adventure.
Sunday morning at 3 a.m., a man was shot outside the restaurant. Customers pushed their way past emergency workers and stepped over the victim to get their food orders. Out of 75-100 witnesses, only one person would talk to police.
In May 2009, two men were shot outside the same restaurant.
At first, I was outraged. I regularly defend North Tulsa, but this time they really ticked me off “¦ however “¦ Monday I had a new perspective. If the chicken is that amazing, shouldn’t I give it a try before I judge? I ventured to Chicken Hut at lunch and took the above photo.
I really liked the secure bullet-proof boarded windows.
I found no customers, no posted hours, and only a handwritten note of their meal deal. If it weren’t for the occasional killing, I wouldn’t even have known it existed.
If I have to venture to Chicken Hut at 3 a.m. on Sunday, during peak drive-by shooting hours to try their chicken, I will.
I will try Chicken Hut. Someday, I will try Bobo’s.
If you don’t hear from me next week, you’ll know how it turned out.

(P.S. Tulsa is considering selling its parks, there are several Other Things Tulsa Could Sell to Generate Income.)

Godspeed.
I hear Juarez has some good chicken spots. Might want to try that for your next trip.
Is it lunch time yet?
I think you’ll be safe as long as you don’t tell them you’re from the health department.
Bobo’s is the bomb. Been there three or four times after 2am and lived to spread the word of the chickeny-honey goodness.
