The “I Am America” girl is from Oklahoma…

No, the girl pictured above is not a Fremen cyborg from the planet Arrakis. It is actually Krista Branch.

Krista is the girl who sings the so-overly-patriotic-it's-funny song I Am America. The tune became popular last year when it turned into a Fox News - Tea Party rallying cry, but has since gone big time after it was featured in Herman Cain's smokin' new campaign ad.

Anyway, the reason I bring this up is that I learned today (via Oklahoma Rock) that Krista is from Bixby, Oklahoma. I figured that gives me an excuse to post Steven Colbert's thoughts on both the Herman Cain ad and Krista's song. Some of it is pretty hilarious.

I don't know about you, but I really really really hope Herman Cain wins the Republican nomination. It may make for one of the most entertaining and humorous campaigns in all history. Plus, maybe the Speakeasy or O'Connell's will let us host a slow smile tournament. That would be fun.

Also, maybe when she stops pissing red, white and blue, Krista will write a song called I Am Oklahoma. Perhaps Mary Fallin could use it on the campaign.
