Well, it looks like “Gladiator” from the Brent Rinehart Comic Book may actually live in the Oklahoma County jail. Unfortunately, there is no word on if he wears homoerotic costumes. From a NewsOK.com article about a Justice Department reportregarding our beautiful Oklahoma County jail:
A Justice Department report rips the Oklahoma County jail as a chaotic and largely unsupervised den of “unconscionable” violence, abuse and medical neglect.
The seriousness of the report led the U.S. Marshals and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to transfer 160 federal inmates from the Oklahoma County jail over the weekend to jails in Tulsa and Grady counties until the issues are officially resolved.
The report details excessive inmate-on-inmate violence and use of force by jail staff, an unsanitary kitchen with birds and insects, lack of clothing and showers, several fire hazards and virtually no mental health treatment. There is also an inadequate investigatory process to review deaths and other serious incidents, according to the report…
“I told you so,” said a news release from District 2 Commissioner Brent Rinehart, a longtime critic of Whetsel’s jail management tactics.
Unless some gay boy scout leaderholds a group of Tenderfoots hostage at Camp Kickapoo, this will hopefully be the only strange accusation from the comic book to actually come true. That being said, we should probably give Brent Rinehart a trophy or something for bringing up the bad jail conditions before the justice report was released. We should then beat him over the head with the trophy for telling us about the jail conditions in a poorly written and drawn comic book.
Anyway, there is a part of me that thinks Brent Rinehart should create a comic book series called the “The Adventures of Brent and Gladiator.” It could chronicle how Gladiator – the crazy Oklahoma County jailer – was turned to good by “inmate awaiting transfer” Brent Rinehart. The duo could then solve crimes and mysteries that take place each day in the Oklahoma County jail. It may actually be a good read.
We can add “the voters” to the list of Brent Rinehart enemies that previously included “liberal good ol’ boys” and “homosexuals”. Either that or voting makes you gay in Rinehart’s book. I say this because Rinehart’s days as Oklahoma County’s district 2 commissioner are numbered after coming in a distant third (of three) in his primary challenge Tuesday night. Apparently his cartoon book was not as effective as he had hoped in rallying the electorate to his cause.
It seems that Brent may have seen this coming. His election watch party was held at a showing of The Dark Knight, which he attended with his “girlfriend.” This was the only way he could get anyone to show up.
This is a bittersweet moment for TheLostOgle.com. Sure, Rinehart is a biggoted moron who was able to draw a salary paid partially by our tax dollars. On the other hand, he provided the kind of material we dream about. So, we will be kind of sad to see him go.
Then again, maybe he doesn’t have to leave us completely. Look and see where Rinehart could continue his career path after the jump. Continue reading ‘Say It Ain’t So’
Here’s the YouTube clip of our favorite “cartoon book” genius Brent Rinehart getting grilled by CNN.
My favorite part was when Rinehart was asked if he was homophobic. Seriously, I half way expected Brent to spin some answer where he accused Jim Roth and Drew Edmondson of living in a small neighborhood near the Paseo called “Homophobia” complete with gladiators, Peter Pan and Boy Scout leaders as neighbors. But he didn’t, which is a shame, because it would have been pretty damn funny. Instead, Rinehart just denied even knowing what the word homophobic means.
Anyway, after watching the clip, I thought that we should try to organize some crazy event to get Rinehart out of office before the voters do it later this year. Unfortunately, according to “The Lost Ogle political expert who I’m not sure I can name or not”, we can’t:
Oklahoma has no provision for recall, and only statewide elected officials — Governor, for instance, or appeals court judges — can be removed via impeachment.
According to the state constitution, Section VIII-2: “All elective officers, not liable to impeachment, shall be subject to removal from office in such manner and for such causes as may be provided by law.”
Acts of moral turpitude, certain misdemeanors, and felony convictions can result in automatic disqualification from office.
That sucks. It would have been pretty cool to organize a “Recall Rinehart” campaign. I’ll just take solace in the fact that he is obviously not going to be reelected. Plus, I think he may have been charged with a felony or something a while back, so maybe he’ll go to jail or something. Maybe he’ll even send us comic books that describe life behind bars. And maybe after going to jail, he’ll know what homophobic really means.
At the end of the Brent Rinehart Comic Book, it says that the master artist who drew the entire thing is a man named Shane Suiters. So after reading the masterpiece, my first thought was, “Who is this Shane Suiters? Who is this talented artist who could possibly design the ’save the dates’ for my wedding?”
So, I did what anyone would do and looked for this Shane Suiters on Myspace. There’s only one. And he lives in Del City. And oddly enough, he’s a tattoo artist. Hmmmn.
I guess now you know who you should probably contact if you’d like a toga-wearing sodomite emblazoned somewhere on your body. And my ’save the dates.’ They may just be the best ones ever.
We are a group of young, amazing and strikingly attractive Oklahoma City residents that offer our “2-cents”, “rants” and “morning news styled opinions” on a variety of topics concerning Oklahoma City and the rest of the world. It’s a daunting task. In fact, it’s a task so daunting that only an Ogle brother could do it. That’s why we’re TheLostOgle.com.
