Kristin Chenoweth is a proud champion…

kristinchenoweth-oglemadness

Apparently, Kristen Chenoweth was pretty excited that she won Ogle Madness II.  In fact, she was so excited that she flew to Oklahoma to accept this special Ogle Madness Championship Certificate at the News 9 studios.  The certificate was presented by Honorary Ogle Randy Cassimus.   According to Toby Rowland, Randy illegally cast 847 votes for Kristin in the tournament.  That’s an Ogle Madness record.

Anyway, I know what you’re probably thinking…why didn’t we present the certificate ourselves?   One word: Integrity.  At The Lost Ogle, we value integrity over anything else, and we don’t want to compromise it by mingling and schmoozing with the celebrities we have to seed in next year’s tournament.  In addition to that, I already had lunch scheduled with European models and Clark Matthews had promised to teach a youngster piano lessons on the old fire organ from the Omniplex.  See what I mean, we don’t break plans.  That’s some integrity for you.

Ogle Madness II: One Shining Moment

Friday, April 17th, 2009

The Ogle Madness II champion has been crowned!  It is the bikini clad actress and Broadway singer Kristin Chenoweth.  She destroyed country music superstar Carrie Underwood by a nearly 2-1 margin in the Ogle Madness II Championship Game.  As a tribute to Kristin and all of this year’s unwilling Ogle Madness participants, we have put together our very own “One Shining Moment” montage clip.  Check it out!

Anyway, I guess we can consider Ogle Madness II a success.   We had over 65 games and nearly 30,000 total votes.  Now that it’s over, the good news is that we get to refocus on writing fresh new content.  The bad news is that we now get to focus on writing fresh new content.  Let the fun begin.

Ogle Madness II: Championship Game

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

ogle-madness-ii2

In last year’s Ogle Madness, we had the battle of the blonde in the pink bikini vs. the blonde eating the ice cream cone.  This year, it looks like we are going to have a very similar matchup, only replace the ice cream cone with a microphone.  Yes, the finalists in Ogle Madness II Championship game are Kristin Chenoweth and Carrie Underwood.

Before we get to the voting, let’s look how each contestant fared in their previous battles.

Underwood:

First round:  Jenny “Oklahoma” Reeder,  64% – 36%
Second Round: Mark Rodgers,  75% – 25%
Sweet Sixteen: Gary England, 68% – 32%
Elite 8: Jessica Schambach, 60% – 40%
Final 4: Sam Bradford, 51% – 49%

Chenoweth:

First round:  Jenni Carlson, 89% – 11%
Second Round: Amy McRee, 72% – 28%
Sweet Sixteen: Lauren Richardson, 83% – 18%
Elite 8: Kevin Durant, 68% – 32%
Final 4: Mick Cornett, 71% – 29%

No offense to Carrie Underwood – because making the Ogle Madness Championship Game is a fine accomplishment – but all signs point to her getting absolutely slaughtered in this game.  Chenoweth totally destroyed last year’s champ and runner-up, and even the popular mayor of Oklahoma City couldn’t get more than 30% of the vote against her.

Seriously, right behind the February tornadoes, March snow storms and April wild fires, Chenoweth’s dominance as a 9-seed has to be one of the top news stories in Oklahoma.  Something tells me she won’t be a 9-seed next year.  Hell, she’s been so dominant we might not even invite her back.

Anyway, you can vote for the Ogle Madness II Champion after the jump.  Be sure to check back on Friday for a special recap.

Ogle Madness II: Final 4

Monday, April 13th, 2009

ogle-madness-ii1

It started with 65 local personalities vying to be Oklahoma’s number one celebrity.  Now we are down to four…the Ogle Madness II Final Four.  This prestigious foursome includes:

• A hot blonde who can sing

• A guy who can throw a football

• A pretty good politician, and

• A hot blonde who can sing

I guess this proves what we’ve always known:  Oklahomans like hot blondes, football and politics.   And if they can sing, it’s simply a bonus.  Anyway, today’s matchups are between:

(4) Carrie Underwood vs. (1) Sam Bradford

(1) Mayor Mick vs. (9) Kristin Chenoweth

Voting lasts until Midnight tonight.  To see how they got here, check out the updated bracket.

Ogle Madness II: Elite 8, South and West Regions

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

ogle-madness-ii2

Today’s Elite 8 battles come from the South and West Regions.  The winners of these two games will join Sam Bradford and Carrie Underwood in next week’s Final 4.  The South Region has played very true to form with the 1 and 3 seeds advancing.  The West Region, though, has been the story of the tournament with the surprise run by 9-seed Kristin Chenoweth.  Has the clock struck midnight, or does Cinderella have one more upset in her?  Here are the previews:

South Regional Final: b

mick-cornett vs. thunder-girl-lindsay

(1) Mayor Mick vs. (3) Thunder Girls

Along with Clay Bennett and his rich friends, Mayor Mick was one of the most influential people behind the NBA landing in OKC.  That’s why there is a bit of irony to the fact that he’s going up against the the Thunder Girls for a berth in the Ogle Madness Final Four.  We know having an NBA dance team in town was one of the mayor’s dreams, but how will he feel if his home town’s NBA dance team blocks his advancement to the Ogle Madness Final 4?  Good question, huh?

West Regional Final:

durant_head_280x3601 vs chenowth

(3) Kevin Durant vs. (9) Kristin Chenoweth

The odds makers figured Chenoweth would have an easy time against Jenni Carlson, but who would have ever predicted the dominance she displayed against Ogle Madness I finalists Amy McRee (the runner-up) and Lauren Richardson (the champion) in back-to-back games.  It will be interesting to see if she has what it takes to beat the silky smooth Kevin Durant, who’s already shown enough of a game to sneak out a close one against hot girl Ashlynn Brooke.

Anyway, vote after the jump.   Voting is open until midnight tomorrow.

Ogle Madness II: Elite 8, East and Midwest Region

Monday, April 6th, 2009

ogle-madness-ii2

The Elite 8 of Ogle Madness begins this week with the East and Midwest Regional finals.  The East Region was dominated by attractive females, while the Midwest was conquered by elite amateur athletes from the state’s premier university.  Previews of the games are below:

East Regional Final:

vs. carrie-underwood

(3) Jessica Schambach vs. (4) Carrie Underwood

Carrie may have pulled off the most surprising upset in the tournament when she demolished Gary England, and really none of her contests have been close.  Because of that, she’s probably the favorite in this game, even though she is the 4-seed.  However…I wouldn’t count out Jessica.  She has a strong local following and the keys to Clark Matthews heart.  Seriously, you should see the perfectly legal and in no way creepy “Shrine to Schambach” display that he keeps in his garage.

Midwest Regional Final:

sambradford5_26d150 vs. blakegriffin7_11150

(1) Sam Bradford vs. (3) Blake Griffin

It’s pretty rare for the Heisman Trophy winner and Wooden Award winner to both go to the same university, but it’s even rarer for them to go against each other in an Oklahoma celebrity tournament.  Seriously, if you are a hard core Sooner fan, who do you vote for here?  Normally, I would say that you should vote for the one with the best personality, but that’s almost like deciding between watching grass grow or paint dry.  They are both pretty boring.

Anyway, vote after the jump.  If you’ve lost track of all the Ogle Madness madness, view the updated bracket.
