Ogle Madness: We Have A Winner!

The votes have been tallied, and the first annual Ogle Madness is in the books. The winner, by a margin of anywhere between 2 and 16 votes** is KOKH morning show reporter (?) Lauren Richardson.

**The exact count is a bit hazy. There were more than a couple enterprising people attempting to stuff the ballot box for both of the candidates (Amy McRee, for instance, has a big fan at the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, Richardson at the United States Postal Service). In any event, we are fortunate that this is Clark Matthews’ specialty (surprisingly, he has one) and Lauren is the winner by a slim but clear margin.

Richardson’s rise to the top has been meteoric, as she wasn’t even known to any of us when we started this blog eleven months ago. Patrick in particular is proud of Richardson’s achievement, as he first brought her to the public consciousness last August. When informed of the results, Pat broke down into tears of pride. He also ate a burrito. But that was just because he was hungry. It didn’t have anything to do with Ogle Madness.

In recognition of Lauren Richardson’s victory, The Lost Ogle is excited to present her with these three prizes:

1. One free Lost Ogle t-shirt
2. One free pink bikini
3. Enshrinement in The Lost Ogle Hall of Fame

If you are Lauren Richardson and would like to collect these prizes, just shoot us an e-mail (thelostogle at gmail dot com) or a MySpace message. If you are not Lauren Richardson, better luck next year.

Ogle Madness: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!

ogle-madness-final.jpg

In early March, the first ever game of Ogle Madness was played between the Richardson Home’s Girl and the Diffee Kids. It ended in a tie. Now, about 7 weeks later, the championship game has finally arrived. Here it is:

(1) Amy McRee vs. (2) Lauren Richardson

This championship game should really be exciting. Basically, you have the established veteran vs. the young up and comer. Or better yet, the Pink Bikini vs. The Ice Cream Cone.

Anyway, read about them and cast your deciding vote after the jump. Voting will last until 6pm on Thursday.

(p.s. Thanks to everyone for participating and voting in Ogle Madness. Also, most of the Ogle Madness posts have been posted under my name, but Tony and Clark Matthews wrote most of the bios. Hell, Tony even took one for the team a couple of times and made some emergency posts while I was out drinking with drunk girls . So thanks to Tony and Clark Matthews, too.)

Ogle Madness: FINAL FOUR!!!

oglemadness-final-4.jpg

Here is what we said on March 3rd when we announced Ogle Madness. It’s some Pulitzer worthy stuff:

Ogle Madness is our very own gimmicky spin-off of the NCAA March Madness tournament bracket. Basically, we took 65 of Oklahoma’s best and brightest “celebrities,” and seeded and placed them into four regions. Starting Monday, we will post match-ups and let our readers vote on which celeb they want to advance to the next round. The celeb with the most votes advances, while the loser is sent home. The tournament will continue until the championship game on April 21st, where Oklahoma’s top celebrity will be crowned.

Wow. Isn’t it kind of impressive that we actually got to this point? When we got the idea for Ogle Madness, we had no clue if people would vote or if we had the discipline to post the match-ups each day. Now 60 “games” and 17,000 votes later we can say it looks like it worked (and it worked despite the valiant attempts by Brent Skarky, some employee at Bob Mill’s Furniture, a seductive drunk girl, and Newcastle Brown Ale to bring it down).

Anyway, to today’s Final Four games being played at the soon to be renovated Ford Center. Here they are.

(2) Sam Bradford, East Champion, vs (1) Amy McRee, Midwest Champion

(2) Lauren Richardson, South Champion, vs (3) Wayne Coyne, West Champion

For the Final Four, voting will last until 5:00pm Thursday. Vote after the jump!

Ogle Madness Elite 8 Recap

Another week has past, and we have finally whittled the field down to the Final Four. Those of you whose brackets had a Final Four of Doug Sauter, Clark Matthews, Blake Rambo and Andrew Gilman are surely licking your wounds. Better luck next year, Clark. I mean, whoever it might be that had that bracket.

We’ll have a quick recap of this week’s action and preview of the Final Four as soon as we hear from our sponsor, Soundtrak electronics.

Ogle Madness Elite 8: West Regional Final

Yesterday we wondered why Ron Terrell wasn’t e-mailed the letter Brent Skarky sent to all of his friends and colleagues asking for votes. As it turns out, he was. Yesterday Ron left us this gracious message on our MySpace page:

Actually, Brent did send me that e-mail… and I would just like to say…

~clearing throat and playing both sides of the fence~

“I would like to wish both Brent and Lauren health and happiness. Each has their own strengths in battle, and each is a MySpace friend. As are those the winner would face in the next round. To Wayne and Jessica, I also wish you the best in competition…and in life.”

OK, OK, perhaps not the most bold of gestures, but it was a nice tribute to worthy competitors and just the sort of friendly competitive spirit we here at the Lost Ogle are striving to nurture. We also like pizza. And mixed martial arts. OK, maybe not the mixed martial arts thing. Unless that makes us sound cooler. Does that make us sound cooler? Or just like we are trying too hard? It used to be so much easier to fake hipness. What’s that? Stop saying “hipness?”

Anyway, today is the final day of the Ogle Madness Elite 8. The game is from the unpredictable West Region and is being played at H. H. Champlin Mansion in Enid. The matchup is:

(4) Jessica Schambach vs. (3) Wayne Coyne

Please vote after the jump…

Brent Skarky Believes In Miracles, Ballot Rigging

brent-starky.jpg

It appears Brent Skarky has a Lost Ogle mole among the contacts in his e-mail list. We were forwarded a 100% real email that he sent out before his matchup with Kelly Ogle. Here it is:

Subject: Do you believe in Miracles?…… Yes!

Well my friends its here… The Sweet 16 matchup with Kelly Ogle. If we were to post another miraculous upset, against the site’s namesake, image the despair, grief and fury that would insue for the 40 year old pasty guys that have never kissed a girl and live in their moms’ basements. Let’s make this happen. Go to the site.. Scroll down and vote. Vote for a miracle, a win for America.

It has come to my attention that the site is treating the Ackerman server as one vote. This will not stand.. This aggression against Kuwait will not stand. Let’s use this like we did our original 12 seed. Let’s make this motivation to beat another News 9 staffer. You must tell friends. You must vote again tonight at home. You must register your disdain on the comments part.

They said Dean was the dream, but against us, done. They said Toby’s nice guy m-o was unbeatable. See ya.. Now lets TCB against the leader of News 9.

We are way past speeches.. You have to be good to make it this far. How many times are we gunna pass the ball before we shoot? 5! Exactly.

Lets keep hope alive. Lets continue to wear the slipper, and win just one more for the Gipper.
