For almost a year now, we have been fortunate (and lucky) to have First Fidelity Bank serve as our premier advertiser. During this time, we have seen a variety of First Fidelity Bank ads grace the site’s pages. The ads have featured the bank’s products and current promotions, but unfortunately, none of them have ever featured midgets, unicorns or the Look at OKC bikini models. Now, with the help of our loyal Lost Ogle readers, that can possibly change.
Effective today, we are getting interactive and going to help design the next FFB ad on the website. And we are going to do it by stealing a page out of the Thunder playbook. Yes, The Lost Ogle is stealing creative content from The Oklahoma City Thunder…how’s that for irony?
This week, we are encouraging all of our readers to submit a 7 word essay on how they would spend $50 from First Fidelity Bank. The essay that shows the best combination of wit, humor, creativity (and appropriateness) will appear on the First Fidelity Bank ad that’s displayed on this very site, and the person who coins the winning phrase will win a $50 VISA Gift Card courtesy of First Fidelity Bank. In addition to that, we’ll also throw in your choice of a Lost Ogle T-Shirt, and even the opportunity to get a picture taken with Jim Traber. That’s kind of cool, right?
Anyway, here’s how the contest works:
“¢ This week, submit a seven word essay by either posting a comment here or sending us an email. You can submit as many essays as you like, and the deadline to turn them in is this Friday, June 5th. Here are three poor examples:
– Buy Clark Matthews a new checker board
– Drink some beer with Cardboard Jim Traber
– Rent a happy midget for July 4th
“¢ Over the upcoming weekend, Clark Matthews and I will scour over the submissions and determine three finalists. These three submissions will then be posted on the site and put to a vote of our readers. When the voting ends, the phrase that gets the most votes is the winner.
“¢ Later on this summer the 7 word phrase will then appear on the First Fidelity Bank on this website.
That sounds easy enough, right? Now all you have to do is think of some clever 7 word essays and submit them. Before you do, be sure to check out the rules after the jump.
“¢ You have to at least be 18 years old. If you are not 18 and submit an essay, then god will kill a kitten.
“¢ The three finalists will be determined by Clark Matthews and Patrick (with some possible input from First Fidelity Bank lawyers). You can submit as many entries as you like, but only one can make it to the final voting.
“¢ By submitting an essay, you give First Fidelity Bank the rights to use your 7 word phrase in an advertisement on this website.
“¢ Employees of First Fidelity Bank and editors for The Lost Ogle are not eligible.
“¢ Writers from The Oklahoman are encouraged to enter lots of entries…lots!
Anyway, I guess that’s all we got for rules. Send or post your essay now! Good luck!
