We have found Midwest City’s answer to that silly OKC Chamber Commercial

Remember that really bad OKC Chamber commercial we wrote about last week? It was that one that targeted old grandmothers, church pastors and all the people who eat at Louie’s.

Well, we have come across its polar opposite. It’s a music video tribute to Midwest City by local rapper Andre Davis. Here it is:

I don't know about you, but that video is awesome. It's the best thing to come out of Midwest City since the Mr. Spriggs Bar-B-Q commercial. Granted, I'm just saying that because I'm scared to make fun of it, but you can't really blame me for that.

In all seriousness though, what I like about the video is that it takes me back to when I lived in Midwest City during the early aughts. I kind of liked the town. Sure, you had to deal with inconveniences like dodging gun shots, noisy jumbo jets flying 500-feet above your head and hooking up with a girl from a bar called Booger Reds, but those experiences helped shape me into the man I am today. Plus, it could have been worse. I could have lived in Edmond.

Anyway, the next time the Chamber makes a commercial about The OKC, they should just hire Andre Davis and the Pop-U-Lar video guys. Sure, the song they write may include the random reference to slavery or the LeRoy’s, but they did drop a line about Kevin Durant. We know the Chamber loves him. Plus, the commercial would be watchable and mildly entertaining. We’d all like that, right?
