This new Sweet Brown “Cold Poppin” music video is, well, something…

If I had to rank my 10 Favorite Funny Movie Scenes of All Time, this classic clip from Old School would make the list. It's the one where "Frank the Tank" inadvertently shoots himself in the neck with a tranquilizer gun:

Why am I posting a clip from Old School in an article about Sweet Brown's new music video?

It's easy. Since the people who made the music video were obviously on horse tranquilizers, it makes a perfect segue and tribute. Check out Sweet Brown's new, probably-soon-to-be-a-hit music video "Cold Poppin:"

Actually, I think I get it.

You see, Sweet Brown's life is like a living dream. In one year she's gone from a cold pop drinking, low-income, NW 23rd Street apartment dweller to a D-list internet celebrity, commercial spokesperson and pop culture icon. While living out this new existence in a recording studio, she has a dream about her old life which apparently was lived in an apartment complex courtyard filled with prisoners, women who like cake, and one magical pop machine. As the dream reaches its climax – a bizarre scene where Sweet Brown realizes she doesn't have enough change for a cold pop while surrounding by zombie robot dancers,  – Sweet's record producer wakes her with a soda at hand. The look on Sweet Brown says it all. Her new dream life is the reality. Her old life is nothing but a dream.

Or something like that.

Anyway, couple of other thoughts:

1. Yes, in case you care, I really did just try to write a serious interpretation of that music video. What a pathetic life I live, huh?

2. I'm honestly not sure what to think about the thing. It was equal parts awesome and terrible. It makes those weird and awkward NewsOK Google "Hang Outs" look normal. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to laugh, cry or lace my cold pop with horse tranquilizers. It's probably all three.
