Oklahoma is one of the most charitable states in the country…

If you like being reminded that most internet clickbait lists are complete garbage, you'll enjoy this one from Wallet Hub.

According to a recent "study" – which means some intern threw a list together based on unrelated data – Oklahoma is one of the top 10 charitable states in the country. Yeah, that's right. The state that leads the way in cutting funding and services for students, the poor, the sick, and the elderly is considered "charitable."

Via HPPR.com:

When it comes to charitable giving, Oklahoma ranks in the top 10 among all states, according to a new study by the personal finance website Wallethub.

Oklahoma was the only state in the HPPR listening area to make the top 10, though Kansas was close behind at number 12.

Nebraska landed at number 20, and Colorado just missed making the top half of states, with an appearance at number 26 on the list.

Colorado being low on the list makes sense. Why waste time and money for good causes when there's weed to smoke and mountains to climb?

Texas fell near the bottom of the rankings, landing at number 45. Utah and Maryland were found to have the most charitable residents, while Hawaii has the least charitable.

Oklahoma’s top 10 showing is particularly surprising given the rampant economic woes in the state, though it was the pervasiveness of public service and volunteering that pushed the Sooner State higher on the list.

Oklahoma ranks in the top five among states when it comes to volunteering.

Well, that explains it. We're near the top thanks to "volunteering." I guess Wallet Hub didn't take into account that our economy is so shitty that a lot of people have to work for free.
