Mike Gundy is a mulleted hypocrite…

Business up front. Party in the back. Stupid hypocrite in the middle.

After news broke that another football player used a new NCAA rule to do what’s best for himself and transfer out of the OSU program, Mike Gundy went on a rant about what’s wrong with today’s people, and in the process, come across as a total hypocrite.

Via NewsOK.com:

“I think we live in a world where people are non-committal,” Gundy said. “We allow liberalism to say, ‘Hey, I can just do what I want and I don’t have to really be tough and fight through it.’ You see that with young people because it’s an option they’re given. We weren’t given that option when we were growing up. We were told what to do, we did it the right way, or you go figure it out on your own.

Yep, the coach who annually threatens to leave his alma mater for a better job and fatter paycheck is complaining about today’s people being non-committal. I know I’m not a mulleted yahoo from Stillwater, but I’d rather people be upfront and direct about what they want. You know, instead of leaving me in the dark and exploiting me for every dollar, which is what Mike Gundy calls “doing things the right way.”

Here’s more:

“In the world today, there’s a lot of entitlement. I’m a firm believer in the snowflake… I’m talking about every millennial young person. Generation Z, I think is what they call ’em. It’s the world we live in because if they say, ‘Well, it’s a little bit hard,’ we say, ‘OK, well, let’s go try something else.’ vs. ‘Hey, let’s bear down and let’s fight and do this.’ So you see a lot of that nowadays…

Just to confirm. The guy who coaches for the university that retroactively claimed the 1945 National Championship in a desperate attempt to give the program legitimacy, claimed the Big 12 South Championship despite not winning the Big 12 South, and refused to acknowledge a bitter defeat when his team was unfortunately the victims of atrocious officiating, thinks there’s a lot of entitlement in the world and is a firm believer in the snowflake. I guess it takes one to know one.

“That’s just general in society even if you’re working down here at Walmart. Your boss gets after you and tells you that you’re not doing a good job, you may go home and cry and tell your mom, but your mom may say it’s OK. That’s just kind of the facts of life, the world we live in today.

Interesting. I guess the kid from Mike’s viral video who would go home and cry “because someone called him fat” must have gotten a job a Walmart. Someone get him some therapy.

Mike concluded his rant with this line:

“Don’t get me on politics.”

I agree 100%. The last thing OSU needs to worry about is Mike Gundy threatening to leave the university to become a Fox News anchor. The network will pay top dollar for his hypocrisy. Plus, he does have a problem with “liberalism.”

  1. Another conservative loser blaming anyone but himself for sucking.

    1. You suck, who’s to blame for that?

      1. easy there snowflake…

        1. Rit Mathis’ seed is leaking from your mouth as you breathe.

      2. Claude assumes facts not in evidence. But who needs evidence to make false charges these days?

        1. I assume only that you do a lot of blathering in circles of dillusional casted away souls.

  2. Great coach and a great person…Nobody was bitching when he stood up for teachers and put his money where his is concerning school safety…Wonder who the real hypocrites are…

    1. How does any of that make him any less of a hypocrite in this situation? Answer – it doesn’t.

And I too, based on your comment, am wondering who you think the real hypocrite is.

    2. That has nothing to do with the topic at hand, and some of us don’t want more damn guns at our kids’ schools, anyway.

    3. Whataboutism, a weak refuge from the topic at hand.

Did someone ask him (Gundy) about the transfers on OSU?

What about his coaching commitment at Maryland?

      I can do it too.

  3. Does he still have Millennials on his team? How do they still have any eligibility? The Millennial generation is too old to be in college now. Unless of course he is just a moron regurgitating dumb talking points. Oh. That checks out.

  4. Meh, seems like the Mulletino does have some good points. Does he actually threaten to leave every year or do people, the press mainly, put him on the lists of possible candidate for every head coaching job when vacancies occur, which is every year? At least he wasn’t a short timer at OSU like Les Miles before him. Anyway that’s how it appears from down here in Soonerville — its possible I’m not paying close enough attention to what’s going on Stoolwater until there is a viral Gundy video.

  5. It seems like a lot of the people who gripe about millenials’ problems tend to highlight the bad ones, and completely overlook the good ones. Wasn’t James Washington a millenial? Was Mason Rudolph? How about Emmanuel Ogbah? Heck, go back some. Was Sam Mays an entitled player who gave up when it got hard?

It’s amazing how people constantly highlight the best people from their own generation in order to characterize it, and yet highlight the worst people from the newest generation to characterize them.

    1. Excellent point.

    2. Generalizing about entire generations is an immediate sign that you are talking to a stupid person. It would be very easy for me to say that baby boomers are a plague of a generation and are directly responsible for the collapse of the United States. There is a lot of truth to that, but there are plenty of baby boomers who aren’t bigoted hoarders that make that statement equally false. Generalizations are intellectually lazy and reality is always more nuanced than that.

  6. I’m guessing he memorized the Aggieville talking points memo for boosters and alumni. With extra $ for saying “liberal”.

  7. He makes some interesting point but left off the most important which is Matt Ammendola is a hot piece of garbage.

  8. College football coaches are the epitome of entitled. Let’s remember this classy guy sent his PR flack out a few weeks ago to threaten the press by pulling their access if they asked anyone about the last player who transferred. Gundy is a garbage human. Stoops was similarly arrogant, but he didn’t have the same level of nastiness to him that Gundy does.

    1. Gundy’s a sniveling little dirt bag. The sooner (pun intended) he leaves, the better off the program will be. Can’t we go back to being a basketball school at OSU. There’s a team and coach I can get behind.

  9. You managed to miss where he said “it’s a joke they even pay us to do this” and his compliments of multiple players for their commitment and their attitude. Seems clear to me you’re putting too much analysis into the musings of someone paid to coach college football.

    1. Then perhaps, if he is paid to coach, he shouldn’t go off on a “get-off-my-lawn” old man rant about what is wrong with this young generation because he’s mad someone used a rule to do what was best for him. The only spoiled brat in this scenario appears to be him.

  10. This should go over well with recruits.

  11. Not a Gundy fan and I agree that he does whine a lot but I can’t argue with his points society and the commitment kids have today. Be it work, school or wherever commitment and hard work are required, this generation is failing. Probably partially our (parents) fault but society and the false sense of politically correctness has taken its toll. Liberalism at it’s worse! always blame someone else.

    1. Sounds to me like Trump Toadie Gundy is trying to blame “liberalism” for the totally incompetent coaching job he has done this year. Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma etc., etc. have players from the same generation as OSU? Also, aren’t our servicemen and women currently stationed overseas, and protecting us from the VERY DANGEROUS convoy of Honduran mothers in flip flops, also from that same generation?

    2. “To Generalize is to be an Idiot; To Particularize is the Alone Distinction of Merit.” – William Blake

  12. Soros is likely behind it all.

  13. I wish M Gundy would transfer out of the OSU program

  14. How many transfers has Gundy accepted into his program over the years?

  15. People are transferring out because the team is under-performing and it’s harder to get noticed when they are, so they’ll take chances elsewhere. Given the incredibly unbalanced relationship between players and schools, that’s should be their right.

Entitlement isn’t a product of age, it’s a product of upbringing. In my years, I’ve seen many individuals older than millenials who were incredibly entitled people. This generation isn’t the first that’s had quitters, sore losers, or safe spaces. Anyone who thinks so is wearing the rosiest of sunglasses.

  16. If he loses players it’s his own fault. All of the millions he’s been paid has gone to his head and now, he’s got a super inflated ego. Once, he said, “I’m a man!” That was endearing because he stood up for his players. Now, he’s a big, old whiny boy who should have kept politics out of it. He lost a big fan with this immature tirade. I could never look at him the same way again. BIGLY DISAPPOINTED!

  17. Grown man who can be triggered by an OU Baseball T-shirt thinks today’s kids are weak.

  18. “I don’t want to play three to start the season that are going to beat me up and make me practice harder than I want to.” Mike Gundy

  19. The more people I know that know Gundy, the more people I know that don’t like Gundy. It’s almost like he’s an overpaid entitled mulleted china doll who can’t take criticism or something.
