Weekend Radar

The Lost Ogle — your source for all-things Oklahoma City — is back, with a birds-eye view of some weekend happenings to muse on. Your age, predisposition to Diabetes and OKC Thunder I.Q. are likely to weigh mightily into which of these disparate events may pique your interest.

Join me for a peek:

Peter Murphy: 40 Years of Bauhaus
Sunday, January 27th | 8 p.m.
Tower Theatre, Oklahoma City

I’m not old. You’re old. It was the sweet summer of 1992 in Austin, the last time I laid eyes on Peter Murphy. And nine years before that, since he last took the stage as lead singer of gothic gods Bauhaus. But this Sunday — in honor of the 40th anniversary of Bauhaus — you’ll get a chance to revel in your youthful angst, when band members Peter Murphy and David J reunite for a special show. The pair will be performing the band’s debut album, In the Flat Field, in its entirety, before a segue into an encore of classics from the Bauhaus catalog. This is the show where we turn up, head-to-toe in black, self-identifying as damaged — but this time, we’re all old enough to drink!

Norman Chocolate Festival
Saturday, January 26th | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Norman North High School, Norman

Saturday marks the 37th annual Norman Chocolate Festival. Just when you had nearly cleared the evidence of your holiday indulgences, it’s time to get fat, again. If you melt into a hot-and-bothered mess at the thought of chocolate, this is where you’ll want to be Saturday — with a ticket to sample delectable chocolate treats from local restaurants and businesses. Proceeds benefit Norman Public Schools PTA. Maybe Oklahoma City Public Schools will try something similar, before they shutter the buildings. Anyway, even without a ticket to taste, the festival will feature free projects, games and entertainment that should keep the kids happy for at least seven minutes.

TLO Trivia: Thunder Pre-Game Edition
Sunday, January 27th | 2:30 p.m.
Chesapeake Arena (Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Club) | Oklahoma City

The plan was to tell you about the Streetcar and Architecture Tour, but apparently Patrick is persona non grata with the Streetcar brass (also the tour is sold out, and it’s too cold to walk). So we decided it would better to remind you that you can bring your big brain and high alcohol tolerance to the Thunder vs. Bucks pre-game this weekend to drink and win prizes, including a shot at a pair of courtside seats. Most of the questions will be Thunder themed — from current stats and franchise history to what type of product Sam Presti uses in his glossy hair. If you’re a Thunder know-it-all, you should do well. All you need is your ticket to the game, and you’re in.
