Your most trusted-trusted source for all-things Oklahoma City is back with its weekly feature, TLO Weekend Radar, highlighting a few of the most promising happenings in the metro. This edition is brought to you by our partners, OKC Energy FC.
This weekend you can drink and play footie, drink and listen to music, or drink and talk about baseball. You can even drink and look at dinosaurs!
OKC Energy O’City Parade & Season Opener
March 16 | 10:00am Downtown | 7:30 Taft Stadium
It’s finally football season! Ok, so it’s the other football but whatever. We are starving for a little variation of the sports radio line-up. So much basketball. OKC Energy is hosting their annual O’City Parade at 10 am on Saturday featuring some of Oklahoma’s most impressive organizations all decked out in their St. Paddy’s finest. At 7-ish head over to Taft Stadium to watch OKC’s own soccer team go head to head with the predictably named Las Vegas Lights. We say 7-ish because while the match starts at 7:30 the first 2,000 folks get a free t-shirt. And everybody loves free t-shirts.
Bricktown St. Patrick’s Day Block Party
March 16 & 17 | 1pm – Midnight
Green beer is here! Oklahoma City’s oldest St. Patrick’s tradition carries on this weekend with green beer, green beads, and a whole slew of folks pickin’ and grinnin’ on stage. OKC’s darlings Weekend All Stars headline on Saturday. This is an all-ages and pet-friendly event, so you get beer, music, puppies and, supposedly, nice weather.
OKC Dodgers Fanfest 2019
March 16 | 10am – 1pm
Bricktown Ball Park
As if Downtown OKC needed any more events crammed into what is truly a parking-challenged region, brave the vehicular onslaught and join the OKC Dodgers for Fanfest and the first game of the season. There’s going to be a hotdog eating contest, tryouts for the National Anthem, and perhaps the most basebally thing of all, goat yoga. Tour the locker rooms, take a swing in the batting cages, and pretend like you are not still bitter they changed the name to the friggin’ Dodgers.
State Fair Park
Assuming you have small humans, assuage any guilt you may have about leaving them with the babysitter to party your ass off for St. Patrick’s Day by first taking them to see dinosaur puppets and animatronics. Jurassic Quest returns to State Fair Park this weekend, bringing with them all the awe and wonder of animals that probably did not actually live in the Jurassic Age. (Yep, Jurassic Park lied to you. The T-Rex is from the Cretaceous Period.)
Have something that should be on our radar? Let us know.
