I didn’t learn how to ride a bike until I was 25-years-old. One year later, I look like Pee-Wee Herman on cocaine trying to steer the bike through an earthquake. I’m still waiting on my call to participate in the next X-Games.
Thankfully, some Oklahomans don’t have the same lack of coordination that I do. In fact, some may even represent Oklahoma and the rest of the country sooner than later.
For the past two years, Kaylee Lovins has been focused on riding better and faster on her bike.
Now, the 7-year-old’s hard work is paying off on the international stage.
However, family members say they are concerned because Lovins hasn’t been able to train like usual due to the severe flooding in northeastern Oklahoma.
Since she was just 5-years-old, Lovins has been riding and training on her BMX bike.
In March, she qualified to represent Team USA in the BMX World Finals in Belgium.
Can we take a second the applaud and recognize natural talent in such a young age? Especially in the mad, shit-house world that we live in –it’s a blessing to read stories like this that do the bitter heart some good.
That being said, Kaylee’s achievement will be used as three things from now on: A national honor, a pundit for nagging parents to get behind as they tell their kids to step it up, and a sobering fact that you weren’t shit at age seven.
Not to be a bummer here- I’m just saying that Kaylee is representing the United States in Beligium now. At seven-years-old, I smashed my neighbors window by accident playing baseball with friends. After getting caught from the scatter, I blamed it on a crazy kid a block away from us known for setting things on fire.
What’s worse is that the crazed loon believed me.
The BMX World Finals will be held in mid-July.
Until then, she is raising money on a GoFundMe page to ensure that she can pay for the trip to Belgium.
Joking aside, we couldn’t be prouder of one of our own representing the U.S.A. Keep up the good work and we know you’ll make us all cheer as you wipe the floor with the rest of the competition!
