Weekend Radar

It’s that time of the week again, guys and gals. Time for the Weekend Radar, brought to you by your favorite off-brand news outlet. If you’re looking for hip happenings in OKC, you’ve come to the right place.

This weekend you have the option to do anything from the supernatural to the naturally super.

Without further adieu, let’s get to it!

OKC Ghost Tour
Saturday, June 29 | 6 – 11:30 p.m.
142 S Oklahoma Ave

Are you a history buff looking to brush up on local paranormal occurrences? Grab your EMF Detector and Poltergust 3000 and head downtown for a night that’ll haunt your memories for the rest of your (natural) life! This spooky experience will cover every local haunting from the Bricktown ghosts to the tunnels, where it’s rumored some people lived their entire lives without seeing a drop of sunlight.

As someone who is 100 percent convinced my rental property is haunted, this is an event I wouldn’t miss for the world. Looking for a little liquid courage before/after this trip? Tapwerks Alehouse is right up the road and provides its own selection of spirits.

Negroni Cocktail Showdown
Sunday June 30 | 6 – 9 p.m.
Tower Theatre

Looking to get sauced without a trip to the Paseo? Look no further. This event will host a wide arrangement of OKC’s finest cocktail creators, who have come together to show off their various ways to require an Uber. Honestly, this sounds pretty radical. For just $15, you’re in the door — and it includes a cocktail from every competitor, along with light refreshments.

This is the perfect way to impress your Tinder date without breaking the bank. The coolest part of this event is that all of the proceeds will be donated to charity, so your drinking is actually making a difference in the world. It sounds like a win-win to me!

Bricktown Canal 20th Anniversary Celebration
Saturday, June 29 | 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Bricktown Canal

Twenty years ago, Oklahoma City built an area that has since become a beloved part of our town. The Bricktown Canal was brought into this world in 1999 and has become a landmark worth celebrating since. This promises to be an exceptional way to spend your Saturday. How? Live painting, pop-up bars and face-painting are just a few factors.

Plenty of local bands will be performing in addition to the OKC Dodger’s mascot making an appearance. The entire day is packed full of events for the whole family!

Oh, and just between you and me?

There’s an afterparty…

Pop-Up Dance Party feat. DJ Diverse
June 29th 7pm-11pm
The Bricktown Canal @ Oklahoma Ave.

Top off a day-long Bricktown Canal 20th Anniversary celebrations with a pop-up dance party! Join us in tearing it up like it’s 1999, with DJ Diverse and Kiss FM’s own Joey Combs. This is guaranteed to be the hottest action  in town. I mean, what could be more rad than tearing up the dance floor to some Talking Heads!

Not a damn thing, that’s what.

Sadly, due to “rules”, you’ll have to BYOB to this party. Grab your flask, charge your pen, slip on your Jelly Shoes, and let’s get weird to the hottest bops from the 80s and 90s. I plan on thoroughly embarrassing myself on the dance floor, with some aid from my old friend, Mr. Beam. See you there.

Anyways, here’s Wonderwall.
