Jose Canseco to launch pro wrestling career in Ardmore

11:22 AM EDT on September 25, 2019

Attention all southern Oklahoma steroid dealers! Make sure your inventory is fully stocked and ready to inject.

Thanks to the wonderful Internet, we've learned that opinionated MLB baseball bad-boy / world-class juicer Jose Canseco will be making his professional wrestling debut in Ardmore at something called OklaMania IV.

For the sake of my now worthless Jose Canseco 86' Donruss "Rated Rookie" Card, I hope Canseco does well.

Here are the details of the event from a terribly written press release:

World Class Revolution Inc. officially announces OklaMania featuring OklaCon: A Celebration of Oklahoma will take place November 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the Ardmore Convention Center LIVE and OklaMania IV, our annual signature professional wrestling event, will also air LIVE on Pay Per View via FITE TV.

World Class Revolution is very proud to announce OklaMania IV, November 3rd, 2019 will be the professional wrestling debut of former Major League Baseball Superstar Jose Canseco. We will also present the 1ST OklaMania Jose Canseco Home Run Derby on November 2nd, 2019 in Ardmore, Oklahoma at Ardmore Regional Park where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Carter County Toys for Tots. Jose is without a doubt one of the greatest athletes professional baseball has ever seen being the first ever 40 home run/40 stolen base athlete in history. He was AL MVP, 6-time All Star, 2-time World Series Champion, and hit an amazing 462 home runs in his career.

It's kind of tempting to write something snarky here, and lament how one of my favorite players from when I was a baseball card collecting 11-year-old is now a 56-year-old professional wrestler scraping the bottom of the barrel in Ardmore, but considering that I was also a huge professional wrestling fan at the time, I'm going to pretend this is normal and totally cool! Hell, maybe I can convince my parents to order it on pay-per-view! It didn't work in 1989 and it doubt it will work now, but it never hurts to ask.
