Hobby Lobby to give employees more money to spend on out-of-pocket birth control expenses

We finally have some good news from Hobby Lobby to report!

Earlier this week the conservative arts, crafts and stolen biblical artifacts dealer announced they were raising the company's minimum wage from $15 to $17 dollars per hour.

Via The Tulsa World:

Hobby Lobby officials on Tuesday announced the Oklahoma City-based crafts and home decor retailer will be raising its minimum wage to $17 effective Oct. 1.

The full-time minimum hourly wage was set at $15 in 2014, according to a news release noting Hobby Lobby has raised the pay rate 10 times since 2009.

“We have always worked hard to be a retail leader when it comes to taking care of our people,” founder and CEO David Green said in a statement. “Because this year has presented so many challenges to our employees, we are very happy that we are able to provide pay increases to thousands of our associates before the Christmas season.”

As you may know, we've been critical of Hobby Lobby for the way they treat their employees, handle a pandemic, and portray themselves as a Godly company all while exploiting low-income workers in places like China, but this is a nice move. The Green family's net worth is approximately three times higher than the entire GDP of Oklahoma, so they can afford to give their employees a little raise.

It's also great for Hobby Lobby employees! For a full-time employee, that basically equates to a pay raise of $4,160 a year. Just think of all the drugs, porn, sex, and morning-after-pills that will afford them! Now they'll really be able to live, laugh and love.
