Earlier this week, the Ogle Mole Network lit up with reports that a Covid outbreak was occurring on the Guthrie-based set for "Reagan" – the big Evangelical biopic starring Dennis Quaid as our divine 40th President.
We did some checking and the reports seemed reliable, so being the irresponsible yet surprisingly accurate man with a platform I am, I fired off the following tweet:
Okay, I guess I should clarify that although the movie will probably smell like wicker, it isn't being entirely funded by Hobby Lobby. One of the Executive Producers of the film is Brett Ryan Green – the grandkid of Hobby Lobby founder David Green. He's the cool "I went to film school" guy of the local rich kid private school class and goes around the world making movies and music videos for Hipster Boo Boo. It's a tough life.
The next day, Deadline confirmed that production has been halted due to the outbreak. Here are the details:
Production of Reagan, the Ronald Reagan biopic filming in Oklahoma and starring Dennis Quaid in the title role, has been temporarily halted after an outbreak of coronavirus among crew members. Directed by Sean McNamara, the film co-stars Penelope Ann Miller as First Lady Nancy Reagan.
“We have had some positive tests from members of our crew, so out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to pause production until we get the go-ahead to return to work from our medical team,” McNamara told Deadline. “The health and safety of our entire team is my greatest concern.”
Although the director may claim the health and safety of his team is his "greatest concern," Ogle Moles are telling us that he wears a mask less than anyone. In fact, they're saying that mask rules are regularly disregarded by higher-ups on the set.
With the production being shut down, some employees are now left wondering if they were exposed to the virus. Fortunately, the production is letting them know what to do via email:
