Good news, justice-seekers and truth-touters!
Last week, Governor Kevin Stitt requested a full audit of the Oklahoma State Department of Education after a previous audit of EPIC Charter Schools revealed the scammy district was ripping off taxpayers.
While Stitt states that the reason for this investigation would be to make sure our state government is being held accountable, State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister accused the governor of attacking the public education system. Whatever. Although I can’t think of any other time when our passive-aggressive, vindictive Governor has been accused of making things difficult for a state agency when things didn’t go his way, I’m sure he has good reason to request the investigation.
In fact, here are some financial fiascos Stitt hopes to uncover in the audit of the Oklahoma State Department of Education!
After a year away due to the pandemic, the Oklahoma State Fair is back and more exciting than ever!
According to news reports, the Oklahoma State Fair experienced its first live human birth and double stabbings of 2021. I guess that means we’re just one child abduction away from a rare State Fair super-trifecta.
Let’s talk about the live birth first.
Although multiple babies are conceived each year at the Oklahoma State Fair, an actual human birth is a very rare occurrence, with the last one taking place back in 1975 when KFOR’s Brent Skarky was born underneath the State Fair Speedway.
Here’s a pic of the scene that was shared by Channel 25:
Whenever I write about Indigenous businesses or the like, there are always those readers that say I’m cutting them a pass because of my own Native heritage. Actually, I always go into to these things more critical than I would others because I feel they’re representing me and, honestly, I don’t want to be any more embarrassed than I have to be.
The truth is that in Oklahoma many Natives don’t want to be embarrassed either, so they always tend to go above and beyond to make sure that whatever it is they’re creating is absolutely gold-star worthy. And, as I have discovered this past weekend, the new First Americans Museum is the absolute paramount of standards they have set for not only themselves but for whomever walks through those doors.
