Stitt flees for Vegas hours after asking state employees to sub at schools…

1:00 PM EST on January 20, 2022

Last night, while I was dealing with the madness of Kelly Ogle Watch 2022, I got a tip via the Ogle Mole Network claiming that Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt – along with a delegation from the Commerce Department – hopped on a private jet for sunny Las Vegas just hours after he begged state employees in a press conference to substitute teach in classrooms.

Since that tweet, I've had time to do a little digging. This is what I've learned...

According to the Ogle Mole Network, Stitt and the Commerce team went to Sin City to woo gun manufacturers at Shot Show 2022 – the big national tradeshow expo for the Firearm Industry Trade Association. The state even had a fancy trade show booth at the expo.

Here's a screenshot about our booth from the Shot Show website:

Hmmn. I wonder what trash and trinkets they passed out at the booth? "Imagine That" keychains? "#OKTop10 koozies? "Let's Go Brandon" tshirts? Whatever it was, I bet they filled the expo trash cans nicely.

Normally, when Stitter takes a business trip to sell Oklahoma, his propaganda team likes to play it up to the media and share social media photos so everyone can see what a great job the Governor's doing. For some reason – maybe because of the bad optics associated with leaving the state just hours after you declare a crisis, or maybe because of what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas  – they're being really quiet about this one. In fact, I don't think anyone would know he even went to Vegas if it wasn't for our Moles!

To get more details – like which hotel Stitt stayed at, his favorite Buffett, and how many times he saw Carrot Top – I reached out to Stitt's She Troll Carly Atchison.

She still hasn't gotten back to me.

Anyway, I guess we'll continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated. For what it's worth, I don't think it's a huge deal that Stitt left for Vegas. In fact, as a guy who also likes to take tax deductable business trips to leisurely destinations, I kind of respect it! Maybe he was able to even sneak in some skiing up at Lake Tahoe. It's only a quick helicopter ride away!
