Sweet Brown video celebrates 10th Anniversary…

For the most part, Saturday, April 7th, 2012 was your typical spring day across the Oklahoma City Metro. The air was mild, the wind was blowing, and at the Chateau Deville apartment complex near NW 22nd and Villa, Kimberely Wilkins was dealing with her bronchitis.

Late in the afternoon, though, tragedy struck. A fire broke out in a disabled woman’s home, and multiple apartment units were quickly ablaze! Residents, who at first thought somebody may be barbecuing, quickly fled to the parking lot for cold pops and safety.

Not too long after, KFOR Channel 4 arrived on the scene for the typical apartment fire story. Little did they, or anyone, know they were about the film perhaps the most viral and well-known local TV news clip in Internet history…

TLO Restaurant Review: Dairy Lou Drive Inn

Editor’s Note: As Louis Fowler continues to recover and rehabilitate from a stroke, we’re going to republish – per his request – some of his classic TLO Restaurant Reviews from over the years. 

Today we take a look at his January 2018 excursion to Dairy Lou Drive Inn – an old-school burger and ice cream stand in Ada, Oklahoma.

Over the past few years, I can’t help but recognize a heartbreaking trend running throughout many of Oklahoma’s various rural communities and that’s the death of the small-town restaurant. So many places I’ve driven through or visited recently seem to have more and more empty Main Street mom and pop joints, shuttered greasy spoons and dead and buried drive-ins, all seemingly replaced by Subways and more Subways.

Equity Brewing Co. issues online manifesto after patron calls owner “Sweetheart…”

Today’s 21st-century culture wars can’t find a way out of the Norman brewing scene.

Just months after Black Mesa Brewing released a “Let’s Gose Brandon” ale to its right-wing hop lovers, Equity Brewing Co. released a lengthy statement on social media after a male customer dared address the brewery’s owner – OU professor Suzette Grilliot – as “Sweetheart.”

Obviously, the customer wasn’t former OU President Jim Gallogly.
