Stitt warns of Oklahoma’s “Super Liberal Tribes” opening “Abortion on Demand” clinics…

10:08 AM EDT on May 17, 2022

In his latest effort to look cool and conservative on the national stage, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt
stopped by Fox News Sunday over the weekend to talk about abortion.

In case you're unaware, Fox News Sunday is Fox's version of the Sunday morning news charade interview shows. You know the drill – some serious-looking journalist asks supposedly hard-hitting questions to politicians in an effort to expose their hypocrisy and contradictions, only to have the politicians totally ignore their questions and instead recite carefully crafted and polished propaganda points for the partisan viewers watching at home, and in the process, further doubling-down on their hypocrisy and contradictions.

It's great TV. Sigh.

For the most part, Kevin Stitt's appearance fit that bill.

He patentedly fumbled and mumbled his way through a series of lobs that questioned his frequent distortions of Oklahomans' views on abortion, and addressed how he ideologically wants to force struggling women to have children, but then abandon them when they need public assistance.

In addition to that, the pretty blonde Fox News anchor tossed him a question about one of the mutually-shared boogie men they love to use to their scared elderly white viewers watching at home – Native American tribes and the McGirt decision!

She asked if doctors would start providing abortions on tribal land. Stitt's canned response was that there's a possibility that Oklahoma's "super liberal tribes" that dare "talk to President Biden at the White House" may set up "abortion on demand" for people who are "1/1000th tribal members."

It starts at about the 4:20 mark:

First of all, when did Oklahoma's tribes become "super liberal?"

Sure, Kevin Stitt thinks that anyone to the left of Attila the Hun is a radical communist, but at last check, politicians like him, T.W. Shannon, Tom Cole, Markwayne Mullin, and tons of other right-wing nutjob politicians in this state happily claim Native American ancestry. I don't think anyone's going to accuse them of being "super liberals."

The truth is that Native American tribes, like the country we live in, are comprised of folks who have a diverse array of viewpoints and ideologies that can't easily or accurately be distilled into broad, blanket statements that cover everyone. Well, unless you're going on national TV to spread lies and drum up support from your right-wing insurrectionist voting base. Then I guess it's doable.

Anyway, I seriously doubt Oklahoma tribal nations are looking to set up "Abortion on Demand" clinics, but if they are, good for them! If Oklahoma and the US Government won't protect women's rights, maybe our tribal nations will. The only drawback is that it will make for some awkward liner reads during Thunder TV broadcasts:

"And tonight's second half is brought to you by RiverWind Abortion Clinic. Schedule an abortion online during the month and January, and get $100 in RiverWind gaming credits! Go to RiverWindAbort.com for more details."

Anyway, I guess we'll wait and see which tribe will act first to tap into Oklahoma's possibly lucrative abortion-on-demand market. Maybe if one can show Stitt how he and his administration can profit from it, they can get his support!
