Is Lacrosse A Major League Sport?

According to this article in something called “Lacrosse Magazine,” either the National Lacrosse League or Major League Lacrosse is looking to expand to Oklahoma City.

I don’t know what is more surprising to me: that there are not one, but two national lacrosse leagues in this country, or that at least one of them is successful enough that they are seriously looking at expansion.

In any event, I don’t know about you guys, but I really don’t want this to happen. I don’t know much about lacrosse, but I do know that once you welcome it into your fair city you get overrun by rich, white, sweater vest-wearing prep school kids named “Jamison,” “Tripp,” and “Reid.” That, my friends, we cannot allow.

As a person with a lot of family in the northeast, I can say with 100% assuredness that lacrosse players are indeed douche bags.

Also, there is no way this would ever take off in Oklahoma (maybe in Edmond).

I would never play a sport where the equipment resembled something out of a horror movie. It’s just nasty.

Of course, if Oklahomans can attend a game, get drunk, and overeat, then I’m sure the vast majority of the population will be all for it.

And hey, it’s gotta be better than noodling.

You guys shouldn’t really talk about something you don’t know ANYTHING about. If you had ever been to a game, you might change your mind.

Hey, I learned long ago that I don’t know anything about women, but that doesn’t stop me from talking about them…

Hey now…. O resent that you associate all three of my names with some Lacrosse player… I attend the South Campus Horse Shoeing School and if news of this gets out. I could be suspended!

Here in NC they have adult Lacrosse leagues like they have beer softball leagues in OK. I have never seen a lacrosse game, but they must take is pretty seriously to have adult leagues. I have always associated it with hoity toity people of means like in American Pie

I actually read a recent interview with Aubrey McClendon where he stated that he bought the Bangor Bandits Lacrosse franchise with the full intent to move it to Oklahoma City. I wonder how much he will be fined for those comments?

    Lacrosse > hockey

    “Lacrosse > hockey”

It’s hard to argue with that. But then, the bar you’ve set isn’t exactly towering.

Lacrosse is a great sport…it’s bigger in the Northeast than around here, however, to say it won’t take off is wrong, IMO…both OU and OSU have club lacrosse teams, and there are also numerous club lacrosse teams in the Tulsa area….it’s a fun sport, but like hockey, some people just don’t want to learn the rules to understand it…

And not all lacrosse players are douchebags as the first poster says….

OU and OSU have club rugby and rowing teams…are those sports ready for professional representation in Oklahoma now?
