The Red Dirt Kings have some good rants on Berry Trammel’s and Bob Barry Jr.’s opinions of Internet message boards. They also mention us in a post and have a picture of a skeleton as their Hot Girl of the Week.
I love those Red Dirt Kings.
However, I also can’t stand message boards. And I used to own one. The thing is, I also can’t stand guys who talk like they have a mouth full of marbles, have the hairstyle of a progressive monk, and think they are better than everybody else. I think it’s about time Berry Tramel gives up the video and sport talk and sticks to writing Berry Tramel columns. This guy used to be (and still probably is) my favorite columnist at The Oklahoman, but now I can’t stand him. I’d rather watch Jenni Carlson eat barbecue than watch one of his videos.

If we didn’t have message boards than Jenni Carlson would have nothing to write about (Bobby Reid story that caused the Gundy rant). Because the message boards are her “sources” and “stories on the fly” and her “rumblings.” THat’s probably why it was Berry Tramel talking about these things instead of JC.

This is how i feel every time i read one of his pathetic stories in the Oklahoman. I’m not sure if anyone knows about this, but that is a horrible newspaper.
if you’re on a message board, chances are you aren’t buying newspapers. that’s the problem.
@ Bosley - I’m glad I am not the only person to notice that he always looks either drunk or hungover. He even sort of slurs his words.
How convenient and self-serving for Berry. I guess if we all leave message boards, the only place we can get our sports information is from people like him.
Of course, Tramel became columnist non grata with me when he penned that Bob Colon tribute column after his death. Went on and on about how Colon’s legacy at the Oklahoman would be built on the people Bob hired to work there. And the only such person mentioned by name in that column was — surprise! — Berry Tramel.
So in other words, Colon would have gone down in history as just another average, crusty old writer schmuck had he not — after an extensive nationwide search — plucked Berry Tramel out of obscurity in Norman to join the Oklahoman staff.
It just doesn’t get much more pompous than that.

Yesterday during the Total Dominance Hour, Berry apologized for calling message boards worse than porn, but said that was as far as he would go. Then, Traber–without any hint of irony–said the problem with message boards is: “There are a lot of guys out there who used to be on the field, but guess what–they aren’t there now. They are hiding behind their computers commenting on what’s going on out there.”
Thank God that, The Voice of Reason, injected much needed wisdom by framing this “message board” situation in its proper perspective. And doing it while hiding behind a radio microphone.
We have Aristotle, Kant, Russell, and now Jim Trabor.
Was that Cardboard Jim? Is he still on the field?
