Blake Shelton is kind of cool…

2:10 PM EST on November 14, 2012

I can't name you one of his songs, I've never watched the Voice, and I think forcing convicted murderers to listen to country music should be considered a viable alternative to capital punishment. Despite all that, I kind of like Oklahoma native and country music star Blake Shelton. He just seem seems like a cool dude. He's laid back, down to Earth, and would totally let you borrow his truck if you need to move a mattress or pick up a washer and dryer from Lowe's.

If you need proof, check out this video of him singing his six favorite Oklahoma commercial jingles. The clip's a few years old, but it's new to me:

I'd probably rank "Don't Lay That Trash on Oklahoma" ahead of Tall Paul, but the fact that Blake Shelton remembered 524-1541, much less sang it, makes him one cool dude. We're not in man crush territory or anything, but we're getting close.

Seriously, could you imagine Toby Keith doing something like this? If he did, it would probably involve him sitting in bath tub and singing about his "10 Favorite Beers to Drink with Barry Switzer." Actually, that would be cool and interesting, therefore Toby Keith would never do it.

Or what about Garth Brooks? He wouldn't even consider it because it would be fun and silly. And if he did, he'd probably take it down a few days later and then sue any blogs that posted it. If someone asked Reba McEntire, she would send back a bit about her "6 Favorite Nashville Commercial Jingles." Vince Gill would produce something depressing that would make us all cry.

Anyway, thanks for being cool, Mr. Shelton. As a tribute, here's the best Tall Paul Commercial from the 1980s:
