Back in August, Mary Fallin unveiled Oklahoma's new Twitter-inspired license plate that pays homage to our great neighboring state of Colorado. Here's what she had to say about the Ogle Madness 6-seed:
“The new design will act as a travelling billboard for those looking to experience and explore our beautiful state!
If it's not too late, they may want to add a "While Supplies Last" disclaimer to the bottom of that "traveling billboard." Thanks to Mary Fallin and the Oklahoma legislature, there may not be any state parks in Oklahoma left to explore:
With state agencies told to brace for significant funding cuts, the tourism industry in Oklahoma is expecting the worst.
In an email provided to NewsChannel 4, the director of the the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department told his staff to be prepared should the state be forced to shoulder yet another decrease in funding.
At risk of becoming victims of the cuts: 16 state parks, one state golf course, 80 full-time employees, the Oklahoma Today magazine and the Miami Travel Information center.
"We're not DPS, we're not mental health, we're not DHS, but we still play an important role in the streets of Oklahoma," said spokeswoman Leslie Blair, "and provide Oklahoma families the chance to get out and enjoy the great outdoors."
I have an idea. Why don't we just turn our state parks into new private prisons? That will bring in revenue to keep the parks open. Plus, we can put prisoners to work as park rangers. It's a win-win. At the very least, you have to Roman Nose Correctional Facility has a nice ring to it.
As a result of this sad news, an Ogle Mole named Jordan put together a new license plate. It's a bit more appropriate and accurate than the one Mary Fallin unveiled.
