DHS is charging new fees on child support payments…

11:45 AM EDT on September 19, 2017

Put another feather in the cap of the Oklahoma budget crisis!

Recently, DHS began implementing new fees on child support payments. They're doing this because Oklahoma government is controlled by ideologically insane oil industry overlords who would rather see single moms struggle to put food on the table than have their energy companies pay a reasonable tax rate on oil and gas production.

Here are the details via KFOR:

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services recently announced that many child support recipients will see a new fee withheld from their child support payments.

Beginning October 1st, Child Support Services, a division of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, will charge 3 percent, up to $10 per month, on child support collections.

This fee is in addition to any fees recipients already pay.

Officials with DHS say the new fee is expected to generate about $1 million this year and is one of several measures taken by DHS to balance its FY 2018 budget.

According to a press release from DHS, custodial persons currently receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or SoonerCare (Medicaid) will be excluded from the fee.

I don't have a problem with this. As we all know, most women leave their husbands (or have babies out-of-wedlock) just so they can go on welfare on get those lucrative, easy to collect, child support payments. It's a free meal ticket for life, or at least 18 years. Hopefully increasing the fees with eliminate this despicable behavior and practice.

Okay, okay. I'm joking. Sometimes I like to pretend that I'm an evangelical Oklahoman that was dropped on my head as a baby and look at the world through their eyes. It's a dark scary place.
