Last week, Oklahoma City police arrested California murder suspect Cesar Berger – or as his friends call him, #4  – following a routine traffic stop in NW OKC. They are apparently still on the hunt for his accomplice, Theta Withcheese.

NewsOK.com has the details:

A man wanted on murder charges in California broke out a police car window and wrestled with officers before being apprehended in Oklahoma City.

Cesar DeJesus Berger, 25, was arrested Thursday on assorted complaints, including assault and battery on a police officer, attempted escape, destruction of property, possession of cocaine and public drunk, according to a police report.

Berger was wanted on a murder warrant out of Los Angeles County, the report states.

About 1:15 a.m., an officer stopped a car after it ran a stop sign and nearly caused a wreck with his patrol car near NW 25 and Douglas. The driver, Jason Stanford, 27, of Edmond, was arrested on complaints of DUI and driving under suspension.

Berger, his passenger, was arrested on a complaint of public drunk, the report states.

While en route to the jail, Berger kicked out the passenger side window of the patrol car and took off near NW 18 and Classen. Another officer gave chase in his vehicle, then got into a fight with Berger, the report states.

Berger had gotten his hands from behind his back and the left cuff was hanging free and open when the officer knocked him onto the ground with his knee and shin. The two grappled in the grass. A call for help on the radio went unheard as the transmitter cord had been ripped out in the struggle, according to the report.

Berger said, "I'm not trying to fight you," while they wrestled. Another officer arrived and pepper-sprayed Berger until they were able to restrain him, the report states.

Cops get a tremendously bad rap nowadays, but let's give props to the officers involved for doing a great job and getting this dangerous criminal off the streets. I hope they celebrated with some well-deserved Johnnie's or Charcoal Oven.
